The shape, texture, and color contrasts of living coral structures inspired this creation. Its beauty lies within its diverging patterns. Their interlocking forms push each other towards growth and expansion in ways that create a nourishing ecosystem for the creatures that find refuge within its forms. I used watercolor and then built onto the image by hand sewing different elements. I sculpted some forms using celluclay to create texture contrasts that emerge from the page.
