Movement met me on the sand dunes of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore while an Artist in Residence. This piece captures the horizontal movements of light, water, and plant life within an ecosystem that was constantly transforming and reshaping with the wind. I used broad strokes of hand sewn fabric to reflect movement, and thick yarn contour lines to demarcate the shore and skyline. I included small stitch work to suggest plant growth among patches of sand dunes.
